This position includes oversight of tennis instructional staff, coordination of tennis components within summer day camp programming, and the facilitation of lessons in individual, semi-private, and group formats.The Tennis Coordinator is accountable for the development, execution, and evaluation of high-quality tennis offerings that align with the YMCA's mission of promoting health and well-being. Additional responsibilities include assisting with the recruitment, training, supervision, and performance evaluation of tennis personnel. The position requires continuous assessment of program effectiveness and member satisfaction, with adjustments made in response to feedback and organizational goals. The Tennis Coordinator is also responsible for ensuring a safe and inclusive environment for all participants.Job ResponsibilitiesProgram Delivery & Instruction

  • Lead private, semi-private, and group tennis lessons for youth and adults, including Cardio Tennis and specialized clinics such as day camps.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate tennis program curriculum to ensure high-quality instruction that meets participant needs.
  • Coordinate staffing for all lessons and provide on-court coverage as needed.
  • Assist in hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating tennis staff and volunteers.
  • Ensure all required certifications and trainings are current for yourself and assigned team members.
  • Provide leadership and ongoing support to ensure staff and volunteers deliver safe and inclusive programming.Member & Community Engagement
    • Maintain consistent, accurate, and timely communication with the Presidio YMCA tennis community.
    • Ensure that all member-facing information is up-to-date across platforms.
    • Address member questions, concerns, and feedback promptly and professionally.Facility & Safety Oversight
      • Monitor the condition of tennis courts and collaborate with the facilities team to coordinate timely maintenance and repairs.
      • Promote an environment that is safe, inclusive, and welcoming to all participants by identifying and removing barriers to access.Administrative & Operational Support
        • Track program participation and member satisfaction; prepare regular reports on key performance metrics.
        • Participate in budget planning and evaluation, including reviewing variance reports as needed.
        • Conduct ongoing program assessments and make recommendations to enhance quality and relevance.Qualifications
          • High school diploma or equivalent.
          • 2+ years of experience as a tennis professional or instructor, with demonstrated success teaching both individuals and groups across youth, teen, and adult age ranges.
          • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
          • Experience in program monitoring, data tracking, and report preparation.
          • Current national certification in Tennis and registered member of USPTA.
          • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, based on program needs.Preferred Qualifications
            • Bilingual in Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, or any other languages.
            • 1+ years of experience supervising and leading teams.Work Environment & Physical DemandsThe work environment is both indoor and outdoor, with activities conducted in varying weather conditions. The Tennis Coordinator will engage with participants, staff, and volunteers in a community-focused setting. Flexibility is essential, as the role may require adapting to different programming needs and schedules, including both individual, semi-private, and group lessons. The dynamic nature of the work requires the ability to manage various conditions while maintaining a positive and professional atmosphere.The physical demands for this position involves physical activity, including standing, walking, and demonstrating tennis techniques for extended periods. The Tennis Coordinator must be able to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. The role also requires frequent movement, bending, and reaching, as well as the ability to quickly respond to emergencies. Flexibility is needed to work in various weather conditions, and the ability to lead lessons for individuals, semi-private groups, and larger group settings is essential.Disclaimers
