Now about you…The Diversity & Inclusion Outreach Specialist is a proactive, innovative, and adaptable recruiting & outreach professional responsible for coordinating and implementing driving diverse recruitment & outreach efforts in accordance with the needs of a tribally owned organization. They are highly organized, adaptable and can work autonomously in a fast-paced environment. Job responsibilities include:

  • Designs, develops, and implements innovative outreach programs using diversity and inclusion best practices in support of Tepa's strategic initiatives
  • Coordinates select actions within Tepa's Native Employment and Economic Enhancement Plan, "NEEEP"
  • Develop and maintain relationships with secondary schools with active AISES chapters and Native American student organizations
  • Conduct on-campus or virtual interviews with students
  • Speak to student groups about Tepa career opportunities
  • Attend annual AISES conference
  • Administer Tepa's Native American Scholarship Fund
  • Develop and maintain relationships with TEROs, workforce development centers, and community organizations in Tepa office or project site areas
  • Maintain internship program with Haskell Indian Nations University and other targeted schools
  • Develop career exposure program for high school and college-age Tribal members, i.e., "Camp Tepa"
  • Assists Director of TM and CHRTRO with design and implementation of a training and career development program for Native workers
  • Assists Training Manager and Talent Management Specialist on implementation of overall career planning initiatives as needed
  • Researches and recommends partnerships, events, and tools that deliver impact and support tribal populations
  • Maintain Tribal Connections Page on TepaNet
  • Recommends creative and results-oriented ideas and practices to cultivate a diverse pipeline of experienced candidates
  • Delivers results with little supervision and effectively manages multiple projects and candidates
  • Remain current on Affirmative Action, D&I and employment related legislation and regulations and their application to the organization
  • Works in partnership with Human Resources on EEO and OFCCP reporting and audits
  • Performs general recruiting and recruitment planning as needed
  • Serves as a knowledgeable, trusted advisor to hiring managers and business leaders What are we looking for?
    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
    • 3-5+ years of successful full cycle recruiting or community/cultural outreach
      • Previous experience focusing on connecting with diverse talent across industries
      • Experience with tribal recruiting and tribal organization relations
      • Experience attending recruiting conferences such as AISES and NSBE
      • Experience with applicant tracking systems and knowledge of recruiting process
      • Proven track record of taking initiative to manage high volumes and meet tight deadlines
      • Applicable Federal, State, and local laws, rules, regulations, codes, and/or statutes
      • Strong oral and written communication skills; Ability to interact effectively and in a professional, tactful manner with candidates, employees, managers, and senior leadership
      • Organized with experience prioritizing multiple functions and tasks while managing work time
      • Strong computer and database application skills; proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
      • Proven track record of maintaining a high level of confidentiality in handling employee information
      • Personal attributes: professional demeanor, tactful communicator, results-driven, action-oriented, flexible, adaptable, and collaborative with a positive attitude
