Job Description Small animal general practice in Walnut Creek, California seeking a full time or part time Associate Veterinarian. This is an eight doctor hospital open seven days a week, 9:00 am to 7:30 pm. The schedule is four 10 hour shifts with rotating weekends for full time associates. Part time options are available. The caseload is steady and varied, with a mix of wellness, internal medicine, surgery, dentistry, and same day urgent care. Doctors here are expected to work cases up thoroughly and manage them in house whenever appropriate. The hospital is well equipped for a busy general practice. Diagnostics include digital radiography, in house ultrasound, echocardiography, and a full in house laboratory. Surgical capabilities range from routine spays and neuters to more advanced soft tissue and some orthopedic procedures. Dentistry is a regular part of the weekly schedule, not an occasional add on. Emergency and urgent cases are seen during business hours, which keeps the medicine interesting and requires good triage and communication. With eight DVMs on staff, there is real peer support. Cases are discussed openly. If you want a second set of eyes on a radiograph or a surgical plan, someone is available. At the same time, associates are trusted to make decisions and manage their own cases. There is no negative accrual, and production is paid monthly. The hospital has grown quickly over the past several years and serves clients throughout Walnut Creek and the surrounding East Bay communities. Many clients expect a high level of communication and detailed treatment plans. This is a setting for a veterinarian who is comfortable explaining options, discussing costs directly, and following cases through to resolution.
