Job Title: Respiratory Care Practitioner Profession: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics Specialty: RRT Duration: 8 weeks Shift: Night 3x12 Hours per Shift: 12 hours (18:45 - 07:15) Experience: 3 years License: RRT License Certifications: BLS Must-Have: CA RRT License Description: RRT needed with 3 years of experience required. Night shifts consist of three 12-hour shifts from 18:45 to 07:15. Every other weekend is required. No call or floating is expected. The position involves performing Respiratory Therapy modalities in a progressive healthcare environment. Therapists will perform technical procedures on complex life support systems. On-the-spot decisions affecting patient care must be made. This role includes working in a variety of settings from neonatal to geriatric. There is a responsibility to assure that all prescribed therapy is performed with quality. Exacting knowledge of all Respiratory Care equipment and its practical application is required. Adequate knowledge of pharmacology pertaining to all medications administered is necessary. Patient assessment and subsequent delivery of appropriate Respiratory Care per protocol and physician order is expected. Responsibilities include ventilator management and weaning of patients on both invasive and noninvasive life support. The delivery of aerosolized medications via MDI, nebulizer, or other devices is part of the role. Hyperinflation therapy, incentive spirometry, and blood gas analysis are included in tasks. Patient monitoring and airway management during emergencies are essential duties. Documentation of all therapy performed in medical records and departmental records must be complete and accurate. Maintaining knowledge of clinical and administrative policies and procedures is critical. Good rapport with physicians, nursing staff, patients, and relatives must be maintained. Special assignments from supervisors may be accepted as needed. All staff meetings and in-service education classes should be attended. Responding to emergency situations and providing assistance is required. Equivalent experience may be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma. Applicants must have graduated from an accredited school of Respiratory Therapy.
