Join us in supporting the exciting clinical research work of the IDEXX CAG Medical Organization. We are looking for an experienced Medical Laboratory Technologist to support our on-market clinical research projects from our West Sacramento, CA,IDEXX Bioanalytics Laboratory.In this role: You will be part of the Medical Data Insights team within the CAG Medical Organization, designing and supporting clinical studies for on-market products including support and expansion of diagnostic claims and developing reference intervals for pet and exotic animal species. Your work will be a critical part of creating evidence-based medical messages around our diagnostic innovations and services. You will interact with IDEXX veterinarians, biostatisticians, external Key Opinion Leaders, and veterinarians in private practice, globally.You will manage incoming clinical samples through detailed reports of sample types, volumes, quality, and associated data. You will provide weekly report outs of ongoing clinical studies in weekly Medical Data Insights meetings. You will maintain a database for each clinical study that captures data associated with incoming samples; this will also include items of note (i.e. unspun SST tubes, missing tube types, etc). You will perform QA/QC for submitted samples and sample results. You will troubleshoot new and existing assays, diagnostic machines, and other problems based on in-depth knowledge. You will assist in the development and presentation of study reports. Additional responsibilities will include coordination and support of various IDEXX BioAnalytics/CAG Medical Organization collaborations and routine laboratory.WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED: You have an ability to work with cross functional groups or teams.You are looking forward to working in a team.You concentrate on the details and can work reliably and precisely.You can work independently on problems and solutions within scope.You possess exceptional written & oral communication skills.Experience with MS Suite of Products (Word, Excel, PP, Outlook, WebEx, Teams) to support remote meetings, sharing of information and reporting.You possess a High School diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. A 2-, 3- or 4-year degree in a Science-related field is preferred. The successful candidate will have 3-5 years experience working as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Medical Technologist in a human or veterinary clinical diagnostic lab.Able to meet the physical requirements that go with working in a lab - standing and sitting for extended periods of time, phone & computer use, extended reach, lifting up to 50lb, and specific vision ability - close, color, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. This is a laboratory, so there is potential exposure to biohazards, agents known to cause zoonotic diseases, and hazardous chemicals. CERTIFICATIONS:Medical Technologist - State Licensure, Medical Laboratory Scientist - American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), Medical Laboratory Technician - State Licensure, or Histology Technologist - American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) preferredLaboratory skills: Specializes in one or more of the following areas (with preference to Chemistry and Hematology): Chemistry/EndocrinologyTesting blood and body fluids for various analytes, utilizing automated instrumentation.HematologyTesting cell-related components of blood samples to enumerate and identify their cellular components, including the microscopic evaluation of blood smears and the use of automated and manual counting techniques.UrinalysisAnalysis and evaluation of chemical and microscopic components of urine samples, using automated instrumentation and manual techniques.Immunology/SerologyTesting blood and other samples for the presence of viral and bacterial disease by detecting antibodies (AB) or antigens (AG).Diagnostic EvaluationPerforming postmortem examinations, including sample collection and preparation for serology, microbiology, parasitology, histology, molecular biology (PCR) and other tests. Preparing samples for analysis and performs parasitological and other examsPerforming variety of customer service activities for internal and external customers, providing information, resolving issues and ensuring customer satisfaction. Responding to customer phone and other communications, addresses questions/issues/problems/concerns, etc.SCHEDULE: This is a full time (40 hr/wk), first shift position with hours Monday-Friday 7:00am - 3:30pm; we may need you outside of those hours from time to time, so flexibility with scheduling will be key.Reliable and dependable attendance is an essential function of the position.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Extensive sitting, phone and computer use.May be required to lift, move and carry up to 50 pounds.Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.Hearing acuity sufficient to effectively communicate with customers and Employees via telephone and in person.Ability to communicate verbally on phone and in person.Fluency in the English language.Extended hours may be required.Some travel required.WORK ENVIRONMENT:Laboratory environment with potential biohazards present.Potential for exposure to agents known to cause zoonotic disease in humans and use of potentially hazardous chemicals as defined by the National Hazard Communication Standards.
