Description/Comment:

The Project Manager - Microbiology is a one-year, full time contract position with the possibility to extend. This role will partner with a Microbiology Program Manager in directing all phases of a development program from initial business case to transfer into sustaining operations. As one of the leaders of a cross-functional team, this position holds responsibility of overseeing the product development process for a key, strategic program within the Microbiology medical device project portfolio. They will also support the dynamic resource allocation process across functions.

This position belongs to Microbiology Operating Company nested within Beckman Coulter and is located in West Sacramento. At Microbiology, our vision is to ensure we that every patient has access to the right antibiotic at the right time as one of the leading ID/AST companies. You will be an integral part of the Program Management Office and report to the Sr Manager of Portfolio & Program Management for Microbiology.

This candidate must possess proven ability to lead.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
Manage budget, schedule, resources, and performance of the program and achievement of QCD (Quality, Cost, Delivery) metrics for their programs. Make or facilitate project trade-off decisions while identifying and driving countermeasures in instances when project is overdue or exceeding budget.
Maintain continuous alignment of program scope with strategic business objectives and possesses sophisticated skills in finance, leadership, communication, influence, cross-cultural awareness, influence, and conflict resolution.
Work cross-functionally and collaborate frequently with Research and Development, Operations, Supply Chain/Procurement, Quality, Regulatory, and Marketing; additionally, working cross-site/time zones will be equally important in achieving maximum impact.
Routinely communicate project goals, status, requirements, gaps, and countermeasures to the Business Unit Product Planning Group.

The essential requirements of the job include:
Bachelors degree in Life Science, Engineering, Business, Management, or a related field with 9+ years of proven experience or a masters degree with 7+ years of experience. MBA is a significant plus.
Work experience should include a minimum 3, preference 5+ years in program/project management.
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, Portfolio Management Professional (PfMP), or equivalent experience.
Strong motivational leadership skills and the ability to influence others without direct authority.
Ability to travel (domestic and internationally)-likely 5-10% of time.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
Managing federal or government contracts (DoD, HHS)
Managing complex system projects that include hardware, software, and consumable
ISO and FDA regulated environment experience
Danaher Business System/Lean/Kaizen experience or similar lean/continuous improvement business system such as Green/Black belt
