Position: Quality Assurance - Test Engineer

Location: Chico, CA - with option to work a hybrid schedule a few days in the office each week

Department: IT

Reports to: Manager IT

Salary: $85,000 - $110,000

Summary:
This position requires someone who is a proactive, meticulous critical thinker, who has a passion for ensuring the quality of software application deliverables that are crucial to the daily operations of the AMain organization. This position will be responsible for all aspects of quality assurance, including creating and executing test plans, understanding project-based business requirements, analyzing, and reporting testing results, and ensuring the successful implementation and support of IT projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Using predefined requirements and specifications, develops, maintains, and executes detailed test plans, both automated and manual, for verification of software functionality, security, user accessibility and performance.
  • Monitors GitHub pull requests to select, build, and test specific software versions, utilizing MS Visual Studio or JetBrains Rider. When needed understand how to step through the code base to debug and identify points of failure.
  • Identifies, documents, and tracks software defects and issues using established bug tracking tools and guidelines.
  • Communicates testing progress, testing results, and other relevant information to the software development team, project stakeholders and management.
  • Collaborates with AMain's various business units to diagnose, recreate, and resolve production support issues related to AMain's suite of internal / external applications. When appropriate communicates these issues back to the development team for further investigation and resolution.
  • Identifies system improvement opportunities based on tracking product support requests or repetitive issues and makes solution recommendations to the development team, stakeholders, and management.
  • Participate in peer-reviews of solution designs and related code.
  • Participates in the planning of application maintenance & enhancement activities / projects including testing, deployment planning, support phase preparation.
  • Assists in researching and development of an automated testing strategy using agreed upon platform and CI/CD processes.
  • Provide support to the user community by monitoring and timely responding to service support issues.
  • Acquires sufficient knowledge of the workflows for the different business areas within AMain, with the ability to apply this knowledge to their testing and support responsibilities. Requirements

    Qualifications / Experience:
    • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent with 3+ years of experience in a range of software testing roles.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues, using Root Cause analysis.
    • Strong understanding of software engineering principles utilizing C# and .NET, including the ability to develop, build, and debug source code within the MS Visual Studio or JetBrains Rider IDEs.
    • Experience supporting complex .Net web-based applications, utilizing C#, ASP.NET MVC and MySQL.
    • Proficient with Web UI technologies including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript Frameworks.
    • Experience with object-oriented design principles, design patterns and software architectures.
    • Experience with relational database solutions utilizing MySQL version 5.7 or higher, including experience in queries, stored procedures, triggers, and database design.
    • Experience with source control management systems and continuous integration/deployment environments, including Git.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills. Enjoys collaboration with other professionals and the user community.
    • Demonstrates Critical Thinking, when evaluating ideas, approaches, and information. Can clearly explain end-to-end solutions and rationale for a chosen approach.
    • Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and diligently, without close supervision. Well organized, with the ability to adapt to changing business requirements. Nice to Haves:
      • Experience with test automation frameworks such as Selenium, Appium, and Cucumber
      • Experience with the Page Object Model testing design pattern.
      • Experience with API testing tools, such as Postman, Swagger, and SoapUI.
      • Experience with Noibu error detection platform.
      • Knowledge of batch files and scripting.
      • Proficiency with the Microsoft O365 platform. Physical Demands:
        • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands.
