INVESTMENT OFFICER I, STATE TEACHERS' RETIREMENT SYSTEM Final Filing Date: 4/22/2021 Application Methods: Electronic (Using your CalCareer Account) By Mail Drop-off The CalSTRS Investments Branch is seeking a motivated individual to work as an Investment Officer I in the Global Equity Unit.
The Global Equity Unit is the largest asset class in the investment portfolio and is dedicated to maximizing the risk-adjusted returns to meet CalSTRS obligation to pay benefits. The Global Equity unit is responsible for managing three main programs: core, developing manager and other programs. The portfolio is managed both internally and externally using passive and active strategies across the U.S., Developed Non-U.S. and Emerging Markets. The portfolio is diversified across market capitalization, style, region and investment strategy. Under the general direction of the Portfolio Manager, the Investment Officer (IO) I provides investment knowledge and support to assist in the management of the total Global Equity (GE) portfolio and assists with the development of financial modeling and maintenance for the total GE portfolio. The incumbent serves as the primary resource to assist GE staff on investment systems and performs a wide range of analytical and technical work, including special projects to support the objectives of GE. The incumbent is expected to perform duties requiring independence, confidentiality, creativity, and discretionary judgment. Responsibilities of the Investment Officer I include:

• Conducting research, analyzing market and economic conditions and trends, and identifying investment opportunities that align with the objectives of GE.
• Assisting in the development and maintenance of financial models for the total GE portfolio to support simulations on portfolio returns, risk characteristics, historical performance, economic forecasts, and other relevant characteristics of investment strategies.
• Serving as the primary contact and resource to assist GE staff on investment systems, including, but not limited to, FactSet and Aladdin. Duties will be adjusted at the Investment Officer II level. The Investment Officer II is eligible for incentive compensation and has a maximum incentive opportunity of 10% of base salary. An Investment Officer I or II who possesses a professional certification as a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) may receive a 5% monthly base pay differential.     CalSTRS Personal Trading Program Investment Branch employees are required to participate in the CalSTRS Personal Trading Program which allows CalSTRS to monitor employees' personal trading transactions in order to reduce risks associated with insider trading, front running, and misusing material non-public information. Upon accepting a position within the Investment Branch, you will be required to disclose your personal broker account information and be required to utilize a personal broker from a designated list as provided by CalSTRS.
    Background Investigation
    
    Prior to employment with CalSTRS, a background investigation (BI) will be conducted. The BI consists of a Personal History Statement and fingerprinting through the Department of Justice. The BI will check criminal and civil records and, if applicable, verify education and check driving records.
